People Who Inspire Me

There are so many amazing people around the world who inspire my work in social activism. These are my top three people who inspire me to be a great leader who will change the world we live in.

1.) Martin Luther King Jr. I wish I was alive when he was. He is so inspiring, I think he is just the greatest person ever. What he did for the civil rights movement is amazing. Honestly I want to be a social activist just like him. Like, I literally want to be MLK.

2.) Jesus Christ. You don’t have to be Christian to appreciate the fact that Jesus had some pretty amazing things to say about the world. I’m going to read you one of my favorite verses, from this Sermon on the Mount.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[h] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[i] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:38-48)

3.) Oprah Winfrey. This woman is so inspiring. She’s an amazing rags to riches story. And I myself grew up in poverty and I just think her story is so inspiring. She was born to a single mom, raised in poverty, got raped as a child, became a teenage mom, she managed to get herself into college and then later became the world’s first black woman billionaire. Like, all of that is amazing.
